| Tabular said: Not because Social Media. Console wars existed since SNES / Genisis and would still have happened wo the new types of comunication. But social media expanded it somewhat. |
Like I said that was a different war. Consoles are a lot more mainstream now, and companies are hesitant to directly attack their competitors out of fear of negative PR, negative because of the community that reacted to it.
the Pre-6th Gen war i.e. everything pre ps2, was an entirely different war. While you possibly could have found a hardcore "fanboy" for lack of a better term then, you would be hardpressed to do this over the internet let alone have an internet community of them, gaming was definetly niche even during the 6th gen.
The First War was incited by Atari, Sega, and Nintendo to increase exposure and foster fanbases. The Second War is completly different its the fanbases themselves who are inciting it.
War has changed.
It's not about nations, or ideologies.
It's not even about profit, resources, or ethnicity.
It's an endless series of proxy battles,
fought by gamers and machines.
War, and its vast consumption of fun,
has become a rational, well-oiled business transaction.
War has changed.
ID-tagged fans carry ID-tagged controllers,
use ID-tagged consoles.
The Cloud inside their bodies
enhance and regulate their actions.
Digital Rights Managment control.. Information control..
Emotion control.. Twitch control.
Everything is monitored, and kept under control.
War has changed.
The age of gaming is now the age of media control,
averting catastrophe from smartphones.
And he who controls the sales controls history.
War has changed.
When the battlefield is under total control,
war becomes routine.
In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank
