I'd say some of the cooler announcements were the multiple Final Destinations and Smash Run. Both of these are really cool features that should add a lot to the online play. Smash Run feels like Kid Icarus: Uprising online from the short bit that was shown so I will probably love it (its hard to explain what I mean by "feels like"...).
Anyways, I was pretty much blown away by the direct. It was one of the best Nintendo has done yet due to the fact that it was so action packed and never really settled into a boring lull. Sakurai was also wonderful and hilarious, trolling Iwata and the viewers ^.^
