They announced every milestone until now...

1 million as of November 15, 2013
2.1 million as of December 1, 2013
4.2 million as of December 28, 2013
5.3 million as of February 8, 2014
6 million as of March 2, 2014

Well they missed the 3 million dammit.

But they have to stop some time, they can't make a big deal out of every million passed.  Those kind of things should be reserved for big milestones, like 10 million for instance.  I mean, if they really wanted to be cheeky, they could wait for MS to announce figures, which will inevitably be below theirs, and release their figures straight after to take the attention, like they did around the new year.  In fact, that will probably be what happens at E3 if Microsoft go first.
