I think they will go ahead and release all these through the end of 2015 but are also working on a new portable (hybrid) platform for 2015 and a lot of these games will be ported to that platform because Nintendo is not going to get the sales they want on the Wii U from these games.
Beyond that I don't think Nintendo is greenlighting any new major Wii U games now, I think they just want to wash their hands of the platform as quickly as possible. It's a drag on their bottom line and its hurting key franchises (ie: DKC, Pikmin, etc.). |
? Pikmin 3 got more attention than 1 or 2, largely because the games had more time to gain awareness. Now, attention may not translate to sales with any immediacy, but Pikmin is now a more "relevant" franchise in Nintendo's docket than it's been in a while.
Like GameCube, it's the top franchise (Mario) that will hurt the most, while the paucity of titles on Wii U will benefit the lower-end franchises just as those franchises gained more notice in the GameCube era.

Pikmin 3 is likely going to be the worst selling Pikmin game, and DKC is almost definitely going to be the worst selling DKC game.
I'd say that matters more to Nintendo than how much attention certain games get. I would not be surprised at all if Pikmin 3/DKC: TF show up ported to the next Nintendo portable/hybrid type machine.
