What happens when/if Nintendo's next console fails?

Instead of just a handheld that connects to a TV, I think they will have a seperate handheld & console but use similar hardware which has the same software. That way if u prefer home consoles u dont have to deal with buying a handheld.

If the home version sells 15-30 million and the handheld version 35-70 million thats puts the total at 50-100 million which would likely allow for 100-200 million units of 1st party software sold. Nintendo should be able to make a large chunk of cash with this scenario.

This is a nice debate. But I would like to have the good tech guys from here say some words on the possibility of the supposed handheld get connected to the console, like a dock station that would thus make the handheld more powerful, while running the same games. Then you could choose to buy the handheld only for, say, $ 200, or the complete piece for $ 300 or 350. I would be game fot the last one, although it seems very unjlikely (the failure of the PCs that tried something similar is out there to show us).
