Everything at this point in the game is scalable, or at least should be if a developer is worth half a shit. It is somewhat curious, if you consider that Arkham City (with it's extra content), only sold around 200k or so on Wii U, yet they found that to be enough to justify porting Origins onto it. Origins has, by the way, sold about 150k so far, which isn't GREAT numbers by any stretch, but it's enough for them to have at least broke even. In fact, I seem to remember Ubisoft saying that with the money it cost them to port a game to Wii U, that selling anything over 100k on the system was enough to bring in a profit. Not the million seller type or profit every company is after these days, of course, but profit regardless. Speaking of Ubisoft, I'm rather sure that we will continue to see support from them, even with their delaying Watch_Dogs nonsense. I do think the next Assassin's Creed will be on Wii U, because III and IV have both sold over 150k, III actually hitting around 250ish. Rayman has sold decently, though I still think as a Feb. 2013 exclusive it would have sold better on Wii U. I also think that Call of Duty has done well enough for Activision to bring the next CoD to Wii U as well. Regardless, Wii U will continue to see games like Just Dance, Skylanders, Disney Infinity, etc. And WB will most likely continue with the LEGO titles, at the very least. Although it's also curious that they are porting that Origins mobile game to Wii U eShop still. In fact considering the healthy eShop sales a lot of games are seeing, considering the user base, I'm not sure why some of these publishers don't at least bring some of their games as digital only downloads. |
a rare sensible post in these foruns.
