I still feel Nintendo's IP's are brilliant, Zelda, Mario etc. If Nintendo had released a properly designed console with competitive hardware so the console was widely supported by mulitformat games (good versions) plus had its own exclusive Nintendo games then the console would have sold well depending on price.

The wii u is poorly designed, over-priced, under-powered and has only a handful of mulitformat games most of which are inferior to ps3 and 360. It's not hard to see why most people aren't interested in it. Nintendo's games need to be the icing on the cake not the only reason to buy the console. Yes its Nintendo's fault because the wii u is appalling value on so many levels.

Ultimately the wii u won't sell until Nintendo have priced it really low. Nintendo have massively damaged their brand and profitability by releasing wii u and hopefully their next console will have some respect for consumers and not just try to shaft them with pathetic hardware at inflated prices.

Nintendo is like a sports team that has one really good player that plays his heart out and puts up spectacular stats ... but the rest of the team around him constantly lets him down.

EAD is a crown jewel developer, but Nintendo is constantly being let down by bizarre management decisions, poor third party relations, slow moving leadership, no concept of the Western market, etc. etc. etc.

As such they're a great player ... but the team rarely wins anything.

The Wii was like one miracle playoff made by said team after a few losing seasons, but it was a bit of a mirage and now things are back to normal.
