Step 1: Get Wii U hardware profitable (this means no price drop)
Step 2: Continue kicking ass with 3DS
Step 3a: Release great games for 3DS and Wii U
Step 3b:Purchase/create additional studios to fill software gaps
Step 4: release Companion Apps, Demos and VC on Smartphones for low prices to make some revenue as well as increasing brand awareness
Side note: Cross compatibility between phones/3DS/Wii U for VC games would be a good move

Nintendo's goal right now should be planning for the future, not trying to salvage the short term. Don't do anything that is a detriment to your brands or make people lose faith in your consoles. This generation, Nintendo needs to play positionally, that is why purchasing/creating addition studios is key despite being an expense short term. Of course Nintendo wants to make as much money as possible but they have enough in the bank that they shouldn't sacrifice their future for some short term gains

That is my business plan for Nintendo...not really sure why you wanted to know but since you asked ^.^

Oh, I am just curious what people should suggest that will help Nintendo.

Step 3b:Purchase/create additional studios to fill software gaps: I am afraid, that one would be tough. They have to prove to their shareholders, that it wouldn't be risky to invest a lot of cash in studio's. Shareholders don't like to here the word "chance", they want to know for sure. They also hate long-term profit, and since they will have to start from 0, it will take years before the new IP will be ready.

I am just worried even tho the 3DS is selling great. It is selling worse then the DS if I must believe VGchartz.

"The 3DS has sold 42,127,535 units in the first 34 months, and the DS 51,762,329 units." From the article "3DS vs DS - VGChartz Gap Charts - December 2013 update."

So, the 3DS is selling great, but already way less then the DS. How long will Nintendo survive on the hardware and software of the 3DS? Sorry, for sounding pessimistic. I am just worried, that Nintendo won't survive the compentition with their current business model. :/

@3B: I don't think it really matters too much whether or not nintendo can convince shareholders. I also think that buying existing studios would be the best decision as it is a quicker turnaround than creating a new studio. Not buying Atlas was a HUGE missed opportunity for Nintendo...

Also, Nintendo doesn't need the 3DS to sell as well as the DS. The DS will always be a beast and one of the best selling consoles of all time. 3DS just needs to maintain its momentum and with its great software library hopefully they can keep it up!

I am curious to see if Nintendo decides to make a portable/home console hybrid next gen. It seems to be getting increasingly difficult (with increasing dev times and costs) for Nintendo to support two systems and condensing all third party support to one console would make things better on that front. I'm not sure if it would be a good move (or if it is technologically feasible) but it would be interesting and save me a few hundred dollars :P

EDIT: Cut down the quote pyramid a bit
