It was. Nintendeo deserves all the credit in the world for it, but everything points to a similar innovation not happening again.

nes: 60 mil

snes: 40 mil

n64: 30 mil

gcn: 20 mi

wii: 100 mil

wii u: probably 20 mil

 

It certainly was a sales fluke.
