I wasn't really comparing it to the other stuff in the genre but the whole industry itself.

Even then it's not that much less than comparable games. I mean they call it an AAA project, but I think we all know that it's not.
No need to compare it to Metal Gear Solid V, CoD, Assassin's Creed and the likes when it's clear that Sonic isn't on the same level concerning sales.

I also doubt that it's expensive for a Sonic game. Generations was on two HD consoles and Unleashed was on 4 platforms (including 2 HD).
