I think he is lying by omission.

Sure, Ken wants to leave. Fine. But Ken does not own Irrational. Take-Two does. By their own admission, Irrational are some of the best devs in the world, and seemingly financially successful.

Why are Take-Two shutting down Irrational?

My hypothesis: Infinite flopped and they can't keep it open.

Infinite sold between 3 and 4 million copies. How can this be unprofitable? Did they get SquareEnix execs to make the budget-planning?

LOLOL ... On a serious not though you really only get $20 profit per each copy of the game sold at $60 and infinite was a 5 year project that is spanned by over hundreds employees and a few other contractors.

So they had a budget way too high for a game of this size? This is sad, because gamers will not accept games with smaller worlds, less visual spectacle and so on. So it seems even more companies will get into trouble in the future ...

Only way to survive with such budgets for good games is sells COD-like numbers or ... make bad games instead.
