Condecention suits you, but it doesn't win you any arguments.

 

A) I don't need to "Check my language", last I checked, there was no censorship for "bad language" on these boards, we're all adults here.

B) Having some of the highest rated games of all time most certainly DOES mean something, especially if you stop to consider that while PS1 was very popular, it also sold on store shelves a HELL of a lot longer than N64 did, which helped it's overall sales. Regardless, PS1 was the sales king, no one is arguing that, but N64 had some of the most wanted, and might I add highest selling, games of that gen. That can't be ignored. There may well have been many a new Playstation fan born that generation, but a whole hell of a lot of them wished they had games like Mario, and Zelda, and Mario Kart, and Goldeneye. Not to mention 4-player in general, and superior graphics.

C) I never said PS2 "ONLY" sold well because of GTA and DVDs. What I said was those were the top two reasons especially early on. DVD players were still fairly expensive back in 2000, and GTAIII and Vice City were hugely popular, and were PS2 exclusive at least for a good year or so. Those WERE the biggest reasons why PS2 was popular on a mainstream level. I never said those were the ONLY reasons. And like the PS1, it certainly helped that PS2 continued selling for many years after PS3 released, the same as PS3 will continue selling for another couple of years, at least, before Sony decides to discontinue it. Having more time to sell certainly helps sales of any console.

D) You may not have been talking about portable systems, but if you want to ignore them while criticizing Nintendo, it means you're clearly cherrypicking your argument. Talking about Nintendo's success or failures without speaking of the astounding success of every handheld device they've ever released this side of the Virtual Boy (which arguably wasn't all that "portable" anyway), is just kind of silly.
