Looks like the Wii U is finally hitting its stride. With numbers like these, the platform may have a real chance at relevance in the Japanese market; no small feat for a console there. And 3D World might be one of the top 20 or so best-selling games of the year, making it, if not what many hoped for, at least a success.

As for the 3DS, it's nice seeing so many hardware and software sales. I was personally expecting better from Puzzles & Dragons Z, but it should still easily outsell any non-3DS game this year, and be the third best-selling non-Nintendo game of the year.

The PlayStation 3 is showing its age, the Vita its lack of support, and Vita TV appears to be almost a flop. I don't expect it to come West unless it picks up. I guess the moral of the story is that Japan is too small to support three consoles, even if one of them is a handheld.
