Don't underestimate the power of the xbox brand in North America and don't underestimate the size of the North American market. The 360 has about 52-53% of its total lifetime sales in the US alone, add Canada and it's probably well over 55% in one region. The PS3 is much more distributed, with about 27 million or so in North America and the same lifetime total.
Even if the the xbox brand went down by as much as 25% in this key market, the PS4 would have quite a challenge ahead of itself.

I believe that the One will catch and pass and remain fairly well ahead of the PS4 in North America, I just don't see any reason why it wouldn't. First off; the price will go down, and second; the PS3's ridiculous starting price didn't stop it from making a good showing in Europe in the 7th gen.
