I agree, and despite Nintendo's attempts make the 3DS its first handheld failure (price, selling 3D as a gimmick, horrible launch lineup), they're just too good at it. Once the games got rolling it seemed easy for them. I even feel that most their games are becoming better suited on handhelds than on consoles, especially Mario games and Animal Crossing both which have driven the 3DS recently much more than on consoles.

One thing Nintendo seemed to forget during the 3DS launch was which games were the most important. Nintendogs 3DS failed miserably and so did pilotwings resort and Brain Age. These types of games are easily substituted for in the phone market and they failed to recognise that the DS didn't have that competition back then as it was the pioneer of touch games. I hope Nintendo take a lot from this generation and realise that they need to innovate more instead of taking their foot off the pedal just cause your last consoles were successes. Luckily they got it right this year especially.

And one thing they got the advantage over the phone industry is the price. The 2DS has just killed it, might be Nintendo's best move since the Wii.
