Wat does the title say? Does it say home consoles? no it says NPD, this includes both handhelds and home console so it is not pointless. 

I think it's more than implied lol. He's clearly talking about PS4 vs. Xbox One. That's why he says "shocks the world", because everyone has PS4 beating it.
