I haven't even done the Wii transfer yet due to the WiiU VC... was waiting until they offerered at least the Mega Drive as an upgrade option before doing that or at least if they fixed the Gamepad to play Wii content... Still waiting!!!

Even got 2000 Wii points waiting to decide where to spend it, if SNES or future compatible MD games... had an eye on a few WW games but those would never work on the Gamepad - only the VC titles have an upgrade possibility.

Mate..... I will take a deep breath.....

Your Wii points carry over and so do all your VC and Wii Ware games if you system transfer. You can play the old games on the TV as you have in the past

but you can now (with the latest system update) play them on the Gamepad only..... You lose nothing to make the switch now!

I'm not going to go into detail why it isn't so easy, since that Wii is a "family" Wii which is currently 2000km away from me.

Controlling the vWii with the Gamepad acting as a classic controller+display should have been available from launch. But after that recent update we only have the display for now.

To me that would have added more value to the system and the backwards compatibility. Spending more money on the Wii Shop side on VC or WW. But they didn't blend the OS in the same fashion as the 3DS with the DSi content. The Wii and WiiU should have been more unified, seamless. The legacy digital content should have been purchasable through the eShop, then you'd have a huge selection of VC and maybe continuing WW development (this happened to DSiWare on the 3DS).

And since these things didn't happen, they made me more wary of digital purchases. Reason why I'm not investing in an eShop digital collection and keep on going physical as long as I can.
