Sorry for the bump!
The off-screen mode for Wii content is something that baffled me during launch, they just had to emulate a screen and classic controller with the Gamepad.
Seems that with the last update they are halfway there by displaying the content... still no controller, but the inputs are sent since you get a warning on the Gamepad (saying it is incompatible...), they should just re-map them
