 Actually that is who they cater towards the most with Pokemon. You will be surprised at how many 20 something year-olds love and play pokemon. In fact Exp Share in the recent game is most likely to cater towards those people the most, because they can't be bothered to have grind fest.

20 something's? The Nintendo era started in 1985 where I live. I was 6 years old that year. I'm now 34. Do you really think this game is geared towards me? Nintendo doesn't cater to it's original fans directly. What they DO, is try an cater to us through our kids. They expect me to pass Mario down like a family tradition, something they've been brilliant at. But make no mistake. They aren't going after me as a gamer. If they were, games would be challenging again and more sophisticated. After all, we grew up playing games like the first Metroid without walk through, strategy guides, YouTube or the Internet to help us. Our skills are a little beyond NSMB.
