Indeed, Sony's marketting push in Europe during the PS and PS2 eras was astounding. I'm not sure about the PS3 era since I haven't been to Europe in a while, but that kind of effort doesn't fade away quickly regardless.

That is one of the points of Sony that I respect most. They pushed games into a different sphere of acceptance, mostly thanks to simulation games (GT, and EA's Fifa) and excellent marketting back in the day.

at least in germany they still advertise the ps brand a lot. not to forget the sponsorship of the champions league which they do for probably 15 year or so...

ad campaigns for games like gta, diablo 3 or the last of us are huge here and much bigger as for any xbox 360 or wii u game i have ever seen. and that are only the games released the last months
