If consoles sales are all about the software, then what's the point Wii U's second screen?

Neither sold systems, and will never sell them. The fact that the 2DS is coming out and that most WiiU games can be played with a classic controller, proves this.

Yes, Im ready for the lynching now, angry mob. Like it or not, the OP has a point and I think even Nintendo realizes this. The ONLY thing that will push any systems out the gate are big titles, and Im not seeing SSB or MK needing the second screen.

Sorry to hear you don't like 3D or tablets with games.  There is a large part of the population who enjoy such things.. No worries.

 

3D is still a niche even outside the 3DS. Add movement to it and on the 3DS it becomes a seriosu issue. Tablet gaming and tablet gamiong with a console is still an unprooven concept and the WiiU is not a good sign for its future success.
