A I see. I missed this thread.

Seems Nintendo really likes to butcher their top selling games. That business model is awful. I hope they make it a full retail package once all sports are out.

Online is welcome though, and I get why they are doing this. They are starting to understand what the Wii U needs, but need to get something out really fast. Hopefully a full new "U Sports" is being worked on.

No offense, but how exactly is a "horrible business model"? If you don't want all 5 sports, you don't have to have them. Me personally, I'd likely only get Bowling and Tennis anyway. Maybe Golf. It's up to a person's preference, and they're only $10 a pop. How is that bad?

Imgine it being done to Mario Party or Smash Bros.

Fragmenting a game is not a good idea IMO.

There is no logical reason why you would do that with either of those games, they don't lend themselves to such business models.
The Sports series on the other hand does though I don't think fragmenting is a term that applies here. I'd say it was fragmenting if you for example had to get a certain high score in Bowling in order to unlock a mini game in Tennis, requiring you to purchase both games for the full experience. This is however not the case. Every sport can stand on its own, mini games, leaderbords, local and online multiplayer, the whole package, a complete game.

If Nintendo had released a sports game a month and then announced that all those sports games were getting online and they would all be part of the same online community a lot of people would probably change their opinion.

That said, I believe Nintendo will eventually come with a bundle pack, they'll roll out sports every couple weeks/months for a while, until they have enough to justify a full game price tag. In the trailer you can also see that it says "Download Version" instead of something more excluding like "Only available on the eShop".

This article sums it up better than me.
