LOL, so lemme get this straight ... Wii U bombs worse this year than anyone predicted and this is a "rah rah" moment for you guys? Sure I bought into some of the kool-aid and spin that people were putting on the Wii U. I was wrong. I did think there was a chance that Nintendo Land and the quasi-home handheld nature of the console could succeed in Japan. It hasn't at all. But that's not on "me", lol, that's on Nintendo and their own crap market performance.
Wii U has performed worse with virtually every demographic than I could have imagined. I also underestimated the impact of tablets/phones/freemium gaming.
Nintendo Land isn't a terrible game, it's probably a better quality product than Wii Sports, there just isn't a market for this idea anymore in a mass market sense. 4-5 years ago, a Mii-based party game featuring popular Nintendo IP attractions probably would've sold through the roof, the audience for that sort of thing just waned and the people willing to pay $300+ for that type of experience are even fewer.

it is on you, because you made predictions and they were wrong. And it seems that you are trying to backtrack and say that you knew it wasnt going to be that good all along, Where prior posts say otherwise.
|
I made plenty of posts being critical of Nintendo and the Wii U from last year. I thought maybe Nintendo Land + sorta handheld nature of the console had a window to succeed in Japan. Obviously it has failed miserably to do so and I've said that. Any other spin you want to add? If I wanted to waste my time I'm sure I could cherry pick a handful of posts to form some kind of agenda too.

calm yourself never said you had an agenda as for cherry picking
"If I had told people here a year ago the Wii U would be performing the way it actually is right now, I'd get attacked left and right by people on this board who would claim it impossible even with a few months of delays to Pikmin + Rayman. "
thats one or YOUR quotes, you just said that, but it wasnt true you never thought the WIi U would do this bad, but you have admitted as much

I think you're misunderstanding the quote, it's meant to say that people are overly touchy about what they percieve as a "negative prediction", even when the reality of the market situation is actually worse.
So yes, if you or I or anyone else had come onto these boards and actually told people what would happen to the Wii U in a year, we'd all get attacked probably fairly passionaitely by Wii U fanatics because they would be angry about such a prediction. No one would believe the system failing this badly would be possible, does anyone doubt that?
You're "allowed" to make a positive prediction, but if you make a negative one, even if it's based on the reality of what's happening, you ruffle feathers. I've also said things like a price drop for the Wii U to at least $299.99 for the Deluxe model was likely to happen sometime this summer/fall and took flak for saying that.
No where did I say "I was always pessimistic and called all this last year with my crystal ball". I've said many times the system's actual performance (as in cold, hard data) is far worse than I could imagined it being even given the delay of a couple of titles.
