GTA V is going to have a ridiculous launch week.

It might even set a new record for biggest opening in gaming history. The 360 version of GTAV is right behind the 360 version of Black Ops II, while the PS3 version of GTAV is just ahead of the PS3 version of Black Ops II.

This is news! Wonder if it would sustain that lead! Never even considered that something (not even GTA) could, potentially, dethrone CoD!

360 version is 62k behind and PS3 version is 138k ahead. GTAV will need to gain like 500K pre-orders in its final week to top Black Ops II pre-orders.

I'm wondering why vgchartz numbers don't allign with black ops 2 being the biggest launch of all time despite it being announced .

1
Call of Duty: Black Ops II (X360)
Activision, Shooter
6,279,978 6,279,978 1
2
Call of Duty: Black Ops II (PS3)
Activision, Shooter
4,708,425 4,708,425 1
1
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360)
Activision, Shooter
7,501,613 7,501,613 1
2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3)
Activision, Shooter
5,383,137 5,383,137 1

As for preorders, while they are insane, it looks like they will fall short of the previous three CoDs at least in America.

1
Grand Theft Auto V (X360)
Take-Two Interactive, Action
2 154,356 1,735,502
2
Grand Theft Auto V (PS3)
Take-Two Interactive, Action
2 117,244 1,154,841
2
Call of Duty: Black Ops II (X360)
Activision, Shooter
2 263,305 1,797,016
3
Call of Duty: Black Ops II (PS3)
Activision, Shooter
2 147,540 1,016,330
1
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360)
Activision, Shooter
2 353,438 2,075,837
2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3)
Activision, Shooter
2 187,334 927,136
1
Call of Duty: Black Ops (X360)
Activision, Shooter
2 258,209 1,776,512
2
Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3)
Activision, Shooter
2 165,195 1,036,802

Weekly preorders are significantly behind CoDs, so first week sales should be a decent amount lower assuming CoD and GTA have similar preorder to purchase ratios.
