Is it really that hard to accept that Wii U has been failure so far? And that this will probably not change?
Seriously, people can't seem to grasp how terribly the Wii U is doing and not even Iwata does. He's expecting 100 billion Yen (1 Billion USD going by the actual exchange rate) in operating profit alone for this year, but they will cut the price of the Wii U and all releases thus far have been weak and there's nothing huge coming up for it. It all relies on the 3DS, which isn't doing that hot outside Japan.
Will Nintendo be able to offset the losses coming from the Wii U and achieve the 1 Billion USD Operating profit figure until March 31st 2014? Just from the top of my head, if I'm not mistaken, during the Q1 of the current FY, Nintendo has posted a profit, but it wasn't an operating profit, rather a profit that came from the sale of assets, yen / dollar exchange rate gains or other things, in fact Nintendo posted an operating loss of 5 Billion yen (50 million USD). So, they have still 1.05 Billion USD to go and there was nothing remarkable during the second quarter that will end in 3 weeks. It will all depend on the last 2 quarters, and Wii U gets its price cut during this remaining period.
