I don't think Zelda will make or break a system like that. Plus, Windwaker is now well liked. I don't think a toon Zelda would be all that bad. Well, now that WW HD is coming a different artstyle would be better.

There's a huge, huge group of people who want a new HD Zelda in the style of the e3 2011 tech demo or Twilight Princess. And not just among the Nintendo faithful. Many, many gamers who would otherwise not touch the Wii U would buy one for such a game. Those same gamers would scoff at a Toon Zelda.

It's not just about the game, it's about Nintendo's image. Doing Zelda in the TP style would paint Nintendo as being cool/in touch with gamers. A Toon Zelda would worsen their image in the eyes of non-fans by reinforcing the "kiddy" stereotype.
