It's not "boasting", it's just discussing specs, which fits the thread topic.

For years now devs have struggled with the RAM limitations of consoles, that's why they're so over the moon about PS4's 8GB. After being restricted by 512MB for so long, (or in the case of Monolith, just 88MB) why would they leave half the available RAM unused? That doesn't make sense. I can see Mario Kart 8 not being memory intensive, but X is an open world game, and Bayonetta 2 showed large, detailed backdrops.

I'm not saying that isn't true. I just don't recall developers really complaining about RAM limitations in particular.

I do recall Bethesda saying the issues found in the PS3 version of Skyrim were due to RAM. But Skyrim actually saves every little change you make in the world. Its unlikely X and Bayonetta are going to be as complex as Skyrim.

You seem to be under the illusion we've never seen large detailed back drops on the PS360...

We have, but I haven't seen any quite like the city backdrop in the boss fight of Bayo 2's E3 demo, (the amount of buildings + detail is stunning) in combination with everything else going on in the scene. (Giant boss, pouring rain, reflective building, debris and effects everywhere)

Lego City Undercover could never be done on the PS3 & 360 because of lack of RAM to have that much world "Open World". (Source: Lego City developers)
