Nintendo generally doesn't go in for bullshots (has Nintendo ever been caught in a bullshot in the last 13 years?), so i can imagine that we can take these at face value, or that any changes in the future will be for the better.

True, just take a look at pikmin 3 and W101 early trailers. lots of advancements can be seen, specially on W101.
