 No. A gimmick tends to be a short lived trend or fad created with the sole purpose of luring a market of people. The Wii was made to lure people who dont game. It was created to simplify the process so they are no longer alienated from enjoying games. Sales show it really didnt matter, except for the Wii Fit, Wii Sports and stuff like that. Moms everywhere were going Gaga for Wii fit until Microsoft launched the Kinect. 

No u said device used to attract business or attention, thay Iis the sole purpose of every single thing that is sold. 


The hope of anything sold is the hope that it gets attention but the Wii was designed to make gaming simple and fun for all. From young kids to geriatrics. Nintendo went to your door or peeped through your window until you called 9-1-1 because "We want to play". Don't you remember those commercials?
