Appreciated, but not really necessary. I'm more lost at how that matters, in terms of the idea behind the discussion, i.e. I'm solidly behind KungKras on this one. Perhaps that might be a viable argument if you limit the discussion to the PS3 vs. 360 debate...but in light of the fact that the Wii missed out on the majority of popular third party titles* and still outsold the rival consoles, and by a ridiculous amount when the system was actually releasing games, I find it impossible to accept that statement as true.
Simply put, the public doesn't care if a game's first party or third-party, they just care if the box plays the games they want to play. And we saw last generation that the more popular games can draw more folks than the more popular games.
*For lack of a better phrase. The precise meaning is malleable, but let's assume we're on the same page for now.

The Wii sold the way it did mainly because of the controller, not so much the games. Nintendo's first-party games are always some of the best selling of their respective generation. That didn't save the GC or N64.
