Last gen they made absurd profits and are just sitting on stacks of cash. Microsoft is a company with stacks of cash, so it created 343i, Black Tusk studios and more with the idea that they will have more games, I don't understand why Nintendo wouldn't do the same
I really don't see what else Nintendo is doing with all this money. Their current games sell ludicrous amounts so the only possible sensible business decision is to make more games! To me, the most sensible thing to do is not to make more Mario games, but to create all new franchises, some appealing to Western and some to Japanese gamers. They could do this either by starting new studios, or simply by expanding their current studios, doesn't really matter.
Their studios might not all create hits, but is is better to try and make more games than just sit on all their cash
