Wrong the price cut happened in Europe already several weeks ago.
Retailers can freely decide for what they offer the WiiU in Europe since Nintendo didn't give out MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price). Due to that retailers lowered the price on their own because it's not selling very well and at the same time forced other retailers to go down in price as well.
Basic SKU:
Launch price was around 299€.
