So instead of a price cut, Nintendo should refresh the skus. A "super deluxe bundle", with Nintendoland and NSMBU preinstalled, along with 64gb, should be the new $350. Then an "eshop bundle", white 32 gb with $30 (coincide w/ nintendo's 30th anniversary) eshop money as the new basic offering. NSMB is a system seller, but nintendoland is not, so if they want to sell systems as well as push asymmetric gameplay, Nintendo should bundle both, kind of like the new Mario Bros/Duck hunt. An eshop bundle pushes consumers to purchase digitally, so these bundle examples are a great way to sell systems and its features. |
Yes, price cut will not benefit them long term, they better off hold that as a wildcard until they know the release price for both Sony's and MS's console. Perhaps priced as it is, the console will still be seen as cheap when compared to the upcoming machines.
I agree in that it's better to increase the value than to decrease the price. Those sound like good ideas, and if new bundles happen, making people more aware of them will be critical.
