thats not true, these phones always had the best screens , unlike the samsung ones where the colors are oversaturated (like when you increase your old tv's color and it will look like the colors get bloomy) the colors and screen on the xperia phones are very vivid and "natural" , some may say the viewing angle is weak though, but you are not going to have five people sitting with you to watch a movie on it or something.
Also i don't know if it affect it , but all Xperia phones come with a "shatter screen protector" , I always tend to remove them because they scratch easily , it might be the cause of the poor viewing angle, as these protectors are very thick, and are mandatorly placed on all phones, I believe the HTC one SV you see here have it on as well.
