I thought this has been known since last E3 when MiiVerse was first showcased?

Nintendo always said it would roll out to the internet and mobile platforms during the first year. I think its pretty cool as I like MiiVerse and can't wait to see how its implemented on the more open PC/Phone/Tablet platforms.

They said Miiverse would expand to mobiles and such not that the U can video conference (which is a separate feature from Miiverse at the moment) with multple platforms and U's at the same time. Nintendo employees are the only ones able to post videos onto Miiverse.

While the video chat is technically outside of Miiverse, I think on their end its all the same service and all provided by that company.

So I don't think this is saying Miiverse in itself will allow you to add videos.. but that video chat as it exists in WiiU will be expanded in some for to gaming. I guess that part is definitely new... but the expansion of miiverse itself into other platforms is definitely known.

I also don't think the intention of that release is to say all those features are 100% about the same thing/base. So, video chat is inherently distinct from Miiverse chat. I mean afterall there is no "Video chat" IN miiverse so that part has to be clearly referring to the separated function.

I also thought Nintendo only meant Miiverse (as in the forums) would be going mobile. It's what I understood from the E3 trailer.

But good that you already knew superchunk, guess I can remove the question mark from the title!

EDIT: From that link, Iwata says that Miiverse is all browser-based. Is WiiU Chat HTML5?
