"The console is a box people buy to get to Mario"

- Hiroshi Yamauchi

It's as true then as it is now.

However, that group of people is dwindling. The market has changed. People want more for their hundreds of dollars.

This is more evident with Sony who arguably does not have a Mario or Pokemon to rely on.

The market is dwindling because of many macro economic factors (And the Wii U controller is no Wii remote). I don't think multimedia functionality is what is going to get a console to sell in these conditions. Whatever innovation that is going to bring growth, will be in the games IMO.

I LOVE ICELAND!
