i feel the name of the tittle affects the score more these days. i mean i played call of duty black ops, and i played it quite a lot. and i was shocked!! this game had an 88 meta!! the animation was HORRIBLE, honestly in multiplayer that run and dive animation was a joke! the story was sub par, story telling sub par, graphics were a joke. the sound of guns sounded like it was recorded by an 8 year old. the game was utterly shit. yet because its call of duty. 88 meta. |
No doubt the name plays into the final verdict. GTA IV is another prime example of this, to get clicks on your site you need to praise and elevate hyped titles or go the other way and tear them a new one (or close), the former is the safe route while the latter is a big risk, often taken by sites who are losing clicks. The amount of honest, well reasoned and balanced reviews is tiny. A review can never be objective but I grow tired of the ceaseless 9's and 9.5's of the 7th generation. I've never seen so many highly reviewed titles in a console generation before but I've never played so much mediocrity and crap either.
