of course it was a respected game, and it still is. Far as I've seen the only person calling its quality into question in any way is Kyliedog, and I'd take a wild guess that his opinion is not based on the Wii U announcement. He dislikes lots of otherwise great things, he's kind of like machina in that way.
This is just another one of those arguments where someone tries to argue that a group is being hypocritical, but in reality only individuals can be hypocrits.
