They are. In terms of gameplay you've been playing the same game since GTA3. Storytelling, cinematics and graphics were the only things that improved. Sleeping Dogs is more innovative than GTA5 will ever be just for the melee combat and envyronmental takedowns. I doubt GTA5 will have that, but i hope it does, cause its the only way i will buy it. |
The melee combat is not innovative at all. Sleeping Dogs was planned as a True Crime sequel and extensive melee combat has always been the main focus of that series (besides driving cars). GTA is more about guns, TC about martial arts.
Environmental takedowns are not new to gaming either, but at least they don't fall into the generic gameplay category just yet. Though I'd still say that this feature is not fully developed.
