A good launch will generally have (most of) the problems isolated as software problems that are 'mostly' fixed by patching within a couple of weeks; a bad system launch will have a significant hardware problem that kills systems that isn't resolved for months. Good sir, you are talking out of your butt. Never experienced any of the problems listed with my DS, GBA, Wii, or GCN. Tis be a recent trend at best because modern devs are lazy and apathetic.
