Ubisoft stated they never were trying trying to push the game graphically, they were focusing on the unique gameplay aspects and trying to get it doen on time for the launch.   To say nothing fo the fact it went though a huge transformation from Killer Freaks to ZombiU not that long ago.  But we know most reviewers/critics/fanboys will ignore all that.

Reading through and saw this and decided I want to argue about it way late.  So here we go:

I think that if reviewers take that kind of development context into play when writing then it's a recipe for every game to get a higher score than it already does.  Mugen Souls has crappy presentation, but they're working on a budget so I'll forgive it.  Tokyo Jungle has some weird animations, but Japan had an earthquake/tidal wave during development so we can ignore it.  You really want reviewers to take into account context that is only an excuse for the final product and doesn't change that the final product is what it is?  What Ubisoft was trying to do with the game is all well and good, but that doesn't change the final product, and that's what reviewers have to grade, not what the developers wanted to make, and not grade the developers on effort because they had a tough road in developing the game.
