They had competition before. Sega, Atari, 3DS, Phillips, etc. PC....more sega, etc.

 

Even the N64 more or less held its own against the PS. Even though it lost.

Atari was before them, they died durning the crash, now if we're talking about Arcades durning the time then yeah, and they were getting beat there until everyone else died

You forget the Atari Jaguar which competed against the N64.  That generation had the most competitors.

it's hard to remember all the "competitors" durning that generation partly becasue so many were so niche they were nearly irrelavent but mostly becasue the PS1 dominated everyone durning that gen so bad it didn't really matter
