Sounds like someone's got a case of the ol' nostalgia! But yeah I do agree past generations were more fun.

I agree with this.

Recently for example Halo 1 ad a GFX makeover but the mechanics and levels remained exactly the same.

It pretty much beats any new fps this gen.

Still fails in comparison to the original n64 FPS games though.

It also doesn't hold a candle to Metroid Primne 3.
