I never trade in my consoles. I have every system I've ever bought going back to Atari plus more I've picked up years or decades after their release.
I would never trade in my current system, that I still enjoy when I could just set some money aside for a new system down the line. With games like Halo 4 and The Last Guardian it's clear that the PS3 and 360 still have life left. I personally am not interested in any of the launch window Wii U games so trading in the system with games I am looking forward to would be a huge mistake.
If I did trade in a system for a newer console, I'd eventually feel the need to replace it. I still play my Dreamcast, SNES, Atari 2600, etc. There's no reason to believe ten years from I won't be playing Halo 4.
