Platinum: Without Nintendo, There Would Be No Bayonetta 2

my only question is why SEGA didn't fund Bayonetta 2 as supposedly that's reason why Bayonetta 2 was cancelled, the game sold roughly 2 mil copies and got many positive reviews, did the game not make a profit?
