I'm calling BS on this. At worst Bayonetta 2 would not happen NOW, but it would happen eventually. Most likely they Sega shopped it around, took bidders, and Nintendo paid the most. Other backers probably didn't think such a niche title was worth it, and they are probably right.

I'm happy to see the series continue but it's not my type of game. I played the demo and didn't care for it. What I think is strange is that Platinum took Nintendo's money while knowing it would alienate almost all the fans of the original. Most with only a Wii never played the original and most with only a PS360 aren't going to buy a Wii U just for Bayonetta 2. It's weird and regardless of how Platinum spins it I think the game would have been funded and published as a multiplatform game eventually.

A. Many Wii owners also owned a 360 or PS3.

B. There's more reasons to buy a Wii U than just Bayonetta 2; like the next lot of Nintendo 1st party games, (now in HD for the graphics hoes, haha) and others like MH3 ultimate. A lot of PS360 owners WILL buy a Wii U.
