These guys do nothing but quality work. They develop multiple games at a fast rate. They can make nice looking HD games. Their games are unique and quirky. They were the core of the team that made arguably the best game on the GameCube (Resident Evil 4). What's not to like?

Project: P-100 looks like the best of the early Wii U software. To me this is a no brainer, once MGS Rising wraps, Nintendo should finance these guys for the rest of the generation. Scoop up Mikami's new game too (Project Zwei). Heck, they even want to make a Star Fox game (not that they should be stuck on Nintendo IP, you want them making cool, original games too but one Nintendo property wouldn't hurt).

On the PS3/360/PS4/720 these guys are just going to be lost in the mix. There's too much "mature" content (month after month of new releases) and Western devs crowding that market. That's how a high quality, really kick ass looking game like Vanquish got lost in the shuffle.

Take Vanquish, lets say Nintendo had bought that out a few years ago and held it for the Wii U launch -- I have no doubt that game probably would be the star of the Wii U launch window at least critically. There's room for Platinum Games to carve out an audience with Nintendo in other words. Nintendo I don't think ever properly addressed the loss of Rare, that was like losing 1-3 pretty good games/year, they need a sidekick developer they can rely on to give them a good game during those ugly drought periods that plagued the GameCube and Wii all too much.

These guys should be a future cornerstone developer in the Nintendo family IMO, along with Monolith (who should be given a bigger emphasis on Wii U), Retro Studios (who should at least have 2 teams), and NST (reformed with the Sonic co-creator for the DKC franchise?).
