I'm am a long time Nintendo fan and I do hope the Wii U is successful, but I am not excited for the Wii U at this time. When the SNES came out I remember being obsessed with it, even more so for the N64. I was too into Halo to be super excited for the Gamecube, but I enjoyed it. The same goes for the Wii. Right now the problem with the Wii U, for me, is it's tech isn't a generation leap and none of the launch games appeal to me. I didn't care about or even want motion controls with the Wii so it took Mario, Zelda, and Metroid to convince me to buy it a few years in. I feel the same about the tablet controller and right now there's no 3D Mario or Zelda or Metroid. I could look past the hardware limits if I had a 3D Mario or a Zelda to get excited about. I know I'll get a Wii U eventually, when the games I buy Nintendo consoles for finally come out. But right now I have no real reason to spend my money on a Wii U. I don't think the media is against Nintendo, but I think they are skeptical and they are expressing that skepticism. It's not a journalist's job to tell fans what they want to hear.
