1. I've seen quite a few threads on here about that but don't have the time right now to look them up (both because of a crappy search feature here and little time in real life at the moment). I'm pretty sure Epic would put UE4 in all its glory on Wii U if they were able to...why would they want to lose revenue exactly? 2. OK 3. I would never say the Wii was a "leap" above xbox. How is the Wii U a bigger leap exactly? We've seen nothing that says it is, no games (they all look close to PS3/360 games), no specs, most of the devs seem to think it's only slightly better or on par. But yes, it might be a bigger leap because Wii didn't really leap at all above Xbox and PS2 and GC. GoW2 looked better than most (all) Wii games at the time of release. Twilight Princess looked exactly like the GC game etc. What signs are you talking about here? (bold) I beg to differ, I'd point you again to everything I've mentioned that is far beyond anything the PS360 can muster but you've heard it all before, so I'll end it with Watch_Dogs (Watch in HD full screen for the full glory) |
@irl. ok. That's something I can relate to.
@italics. It has not as much to do with revenue as it does philosophy and direction. Epic will not support Nintendo's vision, as they are diammetrically opposed. Epic is pushing for cutting edge, Nintendo is pushing for balance between ROI and hardware capabilities. And, since UE3 got ported to the Wii by Ubisoft (I learnt this from hirisu), there is a case where Epic didn't take it into their hands. It just isn't a priority to them, revenue or not.
@bold. Of course you wouldn't, it's a Nintendo console. However, that wouldn't suddenly cause Xenoblade, and some of the best Wii games to dissappear when comparing the two platforms. The Wii is basically a beefed up gamecube, and that means it was more powerful than the Xbox the screens and games we saw on the Wii this gen spoke for themselves. You wouldn't find MH Tri on the xbox as pretty as that, it's not possible. Libroex can give you better examples, since he's more experienced with that topic.
@signs. I'm talking about financial signs, Five hundred and Ninty Nine US dollars (that fiasco will not happen again), the Vita's good but not bleeding edge performance capabilities, Kinect 2 and Microsoft's streamlined approach to next gen, digital emphasis on gen 8 and Gaikai, the WiiU's educated guess of graphics capabilities, what we understand of what the WiiU will be. I'm actually basing my signs on educated guesses by other posters. Since the WiiU has "no info" as you put it, what are you basing your arguments off of? So your argument applies to yourself, only you don't have educated guesswork and analysis of most likely specs to work in your favor, I do. So I hold the longer end of the stick in the "signs" debate.
@watchdogs. That is amazing. I see alot of UE4 style capabilities, the smoke, the cape, the cans and dust, the infinite lights, the multiple shots of the street (bird's eye view multi-shot effect at the beginning), I see how amazing it is. And I believe the WiiU will be able to pull it off, with a bit of loss but nothing significant. If watchdogs is what impresses you, then I believe the WiiU can pull that off by the time the next two consoles are ending their 1st year and devs have more experience with it. By the way that game is made in my home town, I am so proud. Regardless, I do see the WiiU capable of it only to a lesser extent, but nothing that will fully strip the experience like was the case with the Wii. That's my opinion and educated guess on the matter, given what I've read this far. I'm going to bookmark this to either eat crow or serve it to you in the future :)
