He's right and I'm sure he would say the same of all fanboys. Fanboy have a irrational love that goes beyond just enjoying something and becomes justifying everything associated with their passion.

The problem I see is that he starts of with just "fan" and he doesn't change the subject and then uses "fanboy" at the end.  Either he's not good at public speech/writing or he's calling "nintendo fans" and "nintendo fanboys" the same thing.

Do you know what fan is short for. It's short of fanatic. Fanboys are just even more fanatic fanatics. I often say I'm a fan of something, but what I'm really saying is I generally like that something. Patcher is talking about the devoted fans who buy every Nintendo console on day one with no second though, no matter what. I enjoy Nintendo games but I often wait before buying any console. I waited for a redesign and more games for the 3DS and I'm going to wait for Mario, Zelda, or Metroid for the Wii U. I've been enjoying Nintendo games since the NES and I sometimes call myself a fan, but I know Patcher isn't talking about me. He's obviously talking about the fanatics who refuse to listen to any criticism or consider that Nintendo could make a mistake. He's not talking about people who consistently enjoy Nintendo products and would recommend them to others. He's talking about the fanatics.
